Now The B1G Even Agrees With Me… They B1G commissioner Jim Delany asked Michigan State To look into possible played code of conduct violations during the game against Michigan. Check out the ESPN article HERE

As a college football fan, and a huge B1G fan I was embarrassed for the Michigan State program today. Michigan State played one of the dirtiest football games I have ever seen even though they won. This was their chance to show themselves off on a national stage as a legitimate contender, and as a premiere member of the B1G conference.  They celebrated this occasion by having at least 5 penalties for cheap shots on Michigan players including 3 extremely late hits on Denard Robinson and a punch to the face to another Michigan offensive lineman. Line Backer William Gholston should have been eject from the game for his punch to the face of Taylor Lewan and if Mark D’Antonio had any class at all he would have pulled him from the game himself.

They had a total of 13 penalties for 124 yards, most coming from late hits and unnecessary roughness. Michigan State also got away with a taunt that was not called on the final touchdown they scored, in my opinion a terrible no call if they called back the touchdown that LSU had last week.  Michigan States performance today was a disgrace to the sportsmanship of the BIG TEN conference and Mark D’Antonio should be ashamed with how his players carried themselves on the field today. WATCH OUT FOR THIS RIVALRY GAME NEXT SEASON BECAUSE I CAN TELL YOU MICHIGAN WILL BE LOOKING FOR REVENGE.

Calm down with the righteous indignation. The late hits were stupid not dirty. It’s a part of the game and the reason it’s a simple penalty. What your 9 second video doesn’t show is the U of M player grabbing the back of Gholston’s helmet and pushing his face into the ground well after the whistle. Both should have been penalized or ejected, but don’t pretend it was out of the blue. At least Gholston was defending himself from dirty play not initiating it.

  2. Joe says:

They also didn’t show Gholston’s other penalty when he put a late hit on Robinson and then twisted his head sideways with him pinned on the ground…

No, all of these late hits are not part of the game. They represent very poor sportsmanship. It was a deliberate attempt to take Denard Robinson out of the game by injuring him. 124 yards of penalties is NOT normal or acceptable or sportsmanlike football. The officials did a poor job today: they allowed a touchdown they shouldn’t have, and at least one MSU player (thug) should have been ejected. If the mainstream sports media had a little guts they’d be all over it. Likewise for the Big Ten commissioner. ESPN’s reporting at least alludes to and questions it. Shameful!!

I’m an MSU grad and a life-long Spartan, but I was embarrassed and disgusted by the unsportsmanlike behavior of Dantonio’s players. I’m glad we won, and sorry we didn’t do it with grace and maturity. Coach, please teach your team about character and demand that players wearing green and white be good role models. If your game plan is to take dirty, late shots on the opponent’s star quarterback, you are not a true winner in my book.

MSU’s win over U of M 10/15/11 is not a win with which MSU should be proud! One can call it “relentless,” 100% focus or any other rationalization wrong-minded people offer when they are in the wrong. 124 yards in penalties do not constitute “normal” football; late hits (in the numbers MSU had) do not constitute “normal” football; a number of unnecessary roughness calls does not constitute normal football. While attempting to sack quarterback is normal, doing it late and with totally unsportsmanship conduct is not normal.
The whole game was sullied and Coach D’Antonio has besmirched his name and the university. The only “W” in the MSU column which should be registered is WOEFUL.
If there is such a process for playing a Big Ten game under protest, this is the game begging for this !How does one get that process started?

  7. Taking out the Quarterback has become the template of how to win in this modern era. You can fault New Orleans for putting a bounty on Brett Favre but Favre was targeted and injured and faltered at the end. Oh, the Saints won the Super Bowl. Who gives a bleep that the Big 10 Comish “Jim Delany” scolded Dantonio and the NFL Comish gave Peyton a scolding. LOL, who gives a bleep. If Notre Dame had targeted Robinson, MSU would have received a BCS Bowl Bid. Yes, Robinson had to leave the game due to a late hit, 15 yards, LOL, Dantonio and Sean Peyton will take that anyday. Wolverine fans stop being crying bitc#es and wake up and adapt to what works otherwise State will Kick your a$$, and MSU fans stop denying that the hits were part of the game, Bull$hit, Sean Peyton denied the same thing with Favre. Peyton has a Super Bowl ring and Dantonio has a long winning streak not only because they are extremely good but wake up fans they have adapted to what works.

    • Man up people, I would rather slap you with reality then stuff sugar in your a$$.

    • Ever troll has his day ^^^ but he does make some good points

      • This guy “CSG” is a fairy tail dreamer who believes this world is filled with people sitting around the fire place singing coombyahh, dood wake up and realize that it’s reality. Do you believe MSU loses the game when Braylon went off to take the game into overtime, hell no. The injury to Drew Stanton when he went nuts running on Michigan only to be crushed on a scramble into I think David Harris was the changing point of the game. Keep trying to believe that this Billion $ industry called College Football doesn’t have gray areas. I wish that we could go back to the 70’s when the sport was controlled by fundamentals and not by the almighty dollar, but times change and ADAPT there CRAZY SIGN DREAMER ! I enjoy the Big Ten being prominant but I’m not going to be a ignorant to what is occurring. There are many ostriches that we call fans, take your head out of the dirt. Wake up.

  8. Has anybody watched the NHL over the past decade, why are so many of the most talented players being injured hmmmm coaches don’t earn a living by losing. Who are these players being injured, pretty much the leaders of the team hmmmm, kind of like the quarterback ? It’s hurt the game with the quality of talent diminished but the game moves on.
