When the problems of the world are placed so directly into your line of sight it is hard to turn a blind eye, with poverty hitting all time highs in Detroit and the city falling to pieces people opened their eyes and their hearts to begin looking for ways to help. One man decided if all of these community organizations and their volunteers, whose hearts have been touched, joined forces together they could change the city, and possibly the world. This idea is being spread across the country and is increasing the efficiency of volunteer networks and leading to collaborative efforts from many community organizations.

Who is Peoplemovers?
Peoplemovers – based in Detroit, Michigan – is an internet technology company that specializes in creating online community networks for non-profit and for-profit organizations. These networks allow organizations to grow their relationships with customers, volunteers, residents, students, suppliers, donors and supporters so they can grow and, in the process, create healthy communities.
Helping people and communities is part of our “DNA” as the company was originally founded in 2003 by Keith Zendler as a small grassroots community outreach program in the inner-city of Detroit. Our simple concepts for building relationships gradually evolved into a broad-based scope of networking, training, promotion, recognition and educational programs for communities.
In 2008, the decision was made to separate the internet technology component of the organization into a “for profit” entity to make growth and paying the bills simpler with a sizable portion of the proceeds to be reinvested into participating organizations and communities through The Peoplemovers Foundation, a private foundation formed to support relationship-based community development.
