In 2011 there were 8,775 people in the USA killed by firearms. (http://m.guardiannews.com/news/datablog/2011/jan/10/gun-crime-us-state)

There are over 310 million registered guns in the USA. Yeah, thats right enough for almost every person to own 1 weapon.  (www.cnn.com/2012/08/09/politics/btn-guns-in-america/index.html?c=&page=2)

Our own “Homeland Security” just bought 950 million rounds of assault rifle ammunition to use to control the population of the USA. (http://www.infowars.com/dhs-purchases-200-million-more-rounds-of-ammunition/)

However a closer look at the numbers will show you some facts.
image
If the above mentioned murders all took place with a different gun for each one the equation below would show the ratio of gun used for murder vs guns owned.

8,775÷310,000,000
=0.0000283064

0.0000283064×100
=0.00283064%

This shows that less than three ten thousandth of a percent of fire arms in the USA are used for murdering.

If this doesn’t show you that guns aren’t the problem than nothing will.

TREAT THE PERSON NO THE OBJECT.

This is true with drug addiction, alcoholism, and I believe violence.

We are obviously failing our young male population.  To the point where to often they are lashing out violently at innocent victims.

I know it is easier for people to want to say Adam Lanza (the shooter in CT) was a lost cause or was mentally disabled or whatever you want to say,  but the kid needed help and we as a society failed him.  Let’s stop this culture of “the blame game” and start taking  responsibility for our societies actions.  This is not the guns fault. This is our fault for letting someone who so obviously needed help fall through the cracks and it cost us all tragically.
image
I am open to any and all suggestions. Let’s have a really discussion about how to save these young men. Let’s turn this tragedy into a turning point where we find a solution to this tensing problem. Let’s do this for the families, for the children and for our future.

Diamonds for everyone and they are all worth about as much as sand.

[Edit: these diamonds are actually so far only industrial grade so the will not be used in jewelry Huffington Post Article

But don’t get me wrong this will still largely effect the price of the stones.]

image

Remember about 5 months ago when a few of the largest diamond companies that were still privately owned all of a sudden sold out and cashed in on the value of their company?  I DO.

This is why. That huge diamond engagement ring you bought your lover that cost you at least a few paychecks, well the diamond is probably worth as much as any old rock in your backyard now.

image

Oh ya and all of the R&D money put into creating lab diamonds, that was a waste as well.

Come to Russia (AKA Super Shady Land) and buy diamonds for as cheap as sand. Basically they have an entire desert of them, and they have been laughing all the way to the bank since the 1970’s.

Russia Announces It has been hiding a 3,000 year supply of diamonds for 4 decades.

So Phoenix is making the news today because of this whopper of a dust storm striking the city.  It reminds me of something you would see in a movie not in real life.  I hope everyone down there is okay.

A different angle

one more time

Millions of people in the Horn of Africa are facing severe shortages of food as the worst drought in the region for six decades withers crops and kills livestock, as the BBC’s world affairs correspondent Mike Wooldridge reports.

On top of this, the cost of food is higher than at any time since the price crisis of three years ago.

This deeply alarming combination of factors has resulted in acute malnutrition affecting 35-40% of children under five in a lot of places, according to aid officials – twice the threshold that requires an emergency response. –> Starvation Warning

My heart goes out to the children of Africa.  When the people of the world suffer we all should open our minds to new solutions.  How can we help the 40% of children who could starve to death this year alone in the horn of Africa.  Next time you sit down on your plush leather couch with your flat screen TV and eat your big steak dinner think and pray for a minute before you enjoy your meal. Did you do everything you can to prevent this from happening?  Would you be able to explain your actions to God standing at the pearly gates? Do you truly believe yourself when you think ‘That situation is so sad, but there is nothing I can do’?  This is a call to the world for service. For too long we have been ignoring the problems in our own backyard and have practiced the policy of “out of sight, out of mind” when it comes to worldly problems, the time to act is now.

“Some parts of the Horn of Africa have been hit by the worst drought in 60 years, the UN says.

More than 10 million people are thought to be affected across the region.

The UN now classifies large areas of Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya as a crisis or an emergency.

Charity Save the Children says drought and war in Somalia has led to unprecedented numbers fleeing across the border into Kenya, with about 1,300 people arriving every day.

Three camps at Dadaab, just inside Kenya, are home to well over 350,000 people, but they were built to hold just 90,000 and are severely overcrowded.” –> Horn Of Africa sees worst drought in 60 years

Despite reports that the humanitarian crisis in Somalia is easing after 20 years of war, it remains the ultimate failed state – a land of banditry and piracy, where crop failures and a shortage of food force people into the violent city of Mogadishu.  The rattle, pop and thump of gunfire is so pervasive that locals grimly call it ‘Mogadishu music’

A million people are thought to have been killed during 20 years of war –> Somalia\’s Starving Driven Into Violent Mogadishu

With starvation coming people are being forced to take refuge in the most violent areas of the country. With tensions rising it could be the perfect storm for more violence.  If any of you don’t know what i am leading into, think black hawk down, without USA intervention.

This Is Google Changing All of Information Sharing

Original Article Here –> This Is Google Changing Everything

  — Google announced a new social sharing project today called Google+. It’s among the company’s most ambitious ventures to date, up there with Gmail, Android, Chrome and, yes, Search. It represents Google’s very future. It’s going to be huge.

Google+ is a concerted effort meant to turn the ship around. Google famously has a poor social track record. Buzz and Wave were failures, so it needs to get this right. But Google+ goes far beyond just sharing status updates or photos with friends: It aims to change the very way we share and communicate. As it notes in a new blog post today, “We’d like to bring the nuance and richness of real-life sharing to software. We want to make Google better by including you, your relationships, and your interests.”

While there is much more to come, there are three major pieces announced today:

If you want to see all three parts check out the full article on Gizmodo

Hangouts

Hangouts is an online meetup space with live video that includes up to ten people. But it’s designed to let people come and go, dropping by at will, rather than be locked into scheduled meetings. It sounds a bit like Campfire with video.

Mobile

Mobile is the last major component announced today, and it has several moving parts. The table stakes are that you can always add your location (or not). Instant Upload automatically adds your photos to a private album online. Finally, Huddle is a group messaging tool that lets you communicate with a self-selected circle on your mobile device.

But these are just the beginning stages, the initial rollouts that are part of a much larger project led by Vic Gundotra. Wired’s Steven Levy followed Google+ from the inside for more than a year, and has the inside scoop. As he notes, it’s a huge drive by Google. In fact it is, more or less, Google’s future—an internal Manhattan Project meets moon shot.

Those are two of the coolest Social Media things I have ever seen.  I really hope this takes off. I would love to delete my facebook page, or make it a junk page like myspace…lol

Maybe clean drinking water won’t be a problem in the future…

The regular sand often used to filter water is typically too coarse to catch all of the nasties passing by, and its filtering capabilities are overloaded fairly quickly. The Rice-developed sand, coated with graphite oxide, can trap more contaminants for a longer period of time. More after the jump –> [This Super Sand Makes Even Toxic Water Safe To Drink]

If you can get passed the fact that this guy raps the news…lol…He actually has some great info on what is going on with leaking information right now.  Today Wiki Leaks with the help of Anon and LulzSec released 400k worth of documents on the Iraq war and America’s actions in the middle east.  There is some crazy info coming out from when they hacked the CIA and you wouldn’t believe what they are finding out.  All I can say is it was way worse than we ever thought it was and it spans both political parties.  Enjoy the Video…Lulz

Let The Hack Attack Begin

LulzSec is bragging about their most recent breach where they have taken down the British police website.  It was the branch that attempts to arrest organized crime in England and many other areas of the world…This is an interesting target because they were most likely looking for information where the British government and or other corrupt governments had been working alongside organized crime groups to achieve goals they could not publicly support.  For those of you who think any government working along side an organized crime group is a crazy idea check out The Bay Of Pigs Invasion, from the 1960’s where the USA government hired mercenaries to try and attack Cuba.

With Attacks on the FED, the CIA, and now the SOCA I for one can’t wait to see what information they are bring to the table in the near future.

Hackers bring down British police Website

WASHINGTON/LONDON (Reuters) – Hackers temporarily knocked offline a Website run by the British police Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), which targets organized crime in Britain and overseas.

Lulz Security, a loosely aligned hacker group which said it brought down the SOCA Website on Monday, has gone after a long list of government and corporate Websites in the past month. Like the others, it was likely a denial-of-service attack where Lulz hackers bombarded the site with so many messages that it went offline.

“We are aware of claims that the SOCA Website has been attacked. The picture is not clear at this time but we are investigating the matter with our service provider,” said SOCA spokesman Richard Sellors.

Lulz also hacked into a U.S. Senate server, and claimed responsibility for temporarily knocking offline the CIA’s public Website.

In a posting on Sunday, Lulz Security declared that the “Lulz Lizard battle fleet is now declaring immediate and unremitting war” on government and whitehat security.

As part of that, Lulz, which derives its name from the plural variant of Internet slang for “laugh out loud,” urged its followers to hack into and deface government Websites.

“Top priority is to steal and leak any classified government information, including e-mail spools and documentation. Prime targets are banks and other high-ranking establishments,” Lulz said in the statement on Sunday.

Lulz said it was working with Anonymous, a second international group of hackers.

The groups’ stated goals have been murky. In the past, Anonymous has sought to support Julian Assange and Bradley Manning, who face charges after releasing U.S. government documents as part of Wikileaks.

Lulz has also sought to punish Sony Corp for failing to secure data but did so by releasing the data of Sony customers, exposing them to potential identity theft.

Meanwhile, a less public and more damaging series of hackers have targeted the International Monetary Fund and RSA, the security division of EMC Corp.

This study is threatening to break down barriers between the recreational drug users and the prescription drug users.  A new study has found how to properly control the dosage of the active chemical in magic mushrooms so that it can be used to a positive affect without any side effects.

Most prescription anti depressants have close to 500 listed possible side effects, this would completely change the industry.

Article After the Jump –> Far out: Magic mushrooms could have medical benefits, researchers say

Quotes from the Article:

  • “More important, 89 percent reported lasting, positive changes in their behavior–better relationships with others, for instance, or increased care for their own mental and physical well-being. Those assessments were corroborated by family members and others.”
  • “I think my heart is more open to all interactions with other people,” one volunteer reported in a questionnaire given to participants 14-months after their session.
  • “I feel that I relate better in my marriage,” wrote another. “There is more empathy — a greater understanding of people, and understanding their difficulties, and less judgment.”
  • “I don’t think it was the drug that did it,” she said. “It was the drug that helped me find the clarity.”
  • “When you see people undergoing that kind of transformation,” he added, “it’s really quite moving.”

As I have said all along its not what they help you seen on the outside that counts (even if it is fun), its what the chemical forces you to realize about yourself on the inside that makes the difference.
