Maybe more people should start picketing their picketing…lol This was a great idea and would love to see more people make these idiots at the WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH look bad.

On Aug. 30th, 2011 Westboro Baptist Church called for a picket of the Foo Fighters show in Kansas City. They had a little something up their sleeve. God Bless America.

Who would have thought that a social network that has only been out for 3 months would have the social network king Facebook scrambling so hard to keep up. Today Facebook announced it is going to add new friend features that resemble Google+ circles. I hope that they can come up with a better strategy than copying the good features of Google for their sake.  Either way if you are still using Facebook remember one thing, YOU ARE USING A SECOND RATE SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLET.

ORIGINALLY POSTED HERE

NEW YORK (AP) — It’s a modern-day dilemma: You really want your Facebook friends to see that wild party photo of you wearing bunny ears. But you’re not so keen on explaining it to your mother-in-law.

Well, Facebook aims to make life easier.

Beginning Wednesday, the social network will make it easier to share photos, posts and links with smaller, isolated groups of people. While the site has allowed users to separate their friends into lists since 2007, this option took quite a bit of work and only a small fraction of Facebook users took advantage of it.

Now, Facebook will automatically group your friends based on whether they live near you, went to your school or work with you. You can read posts or share updates with specific groups instead of dozens, or hundreds, of “friends” at a time. Facebook will use the colleges, workplaces and geographic locations that users share on the site to organize people into groups. Called “smart lists,” the feature is optional to use, and the lists are customizable.

“Users don’t really want to spend a lot of time creating and maintaining friend lists,” said Naomi Gleit, the director of product at Facebook who worked on the feature.

In addition, you can create your own friend groups with as few or as many as you would like, based around hobbies, work projects or relatives, for example.

Listing people as “close friends,” meanwhile, will ensure that you will see the posts and photos from the dozen or so friends you care about the most. Updates from these people will feature more prominently in your news feed and you can opt to receive email notifications every time they post something on Facebook, Gleit said.

Conversely, those categorized as “acquaintances” will feature less prominently on your Facebook page, and you will see just big news, such as marriages and new babies.

Facebook’s latest move takes a page from Google Plus, the fledgling social network launched this summer by the online search leader. Google’s service so far has not threatened to unseat Facebook as the world’s biggest online social network. But its sleek design and innovative, privacy-focused features piqued the interest of many Facebook users and critics, helping to foster healthy competition among these Silicon Valley neighbors.

The Music Video Genome Project is like pandora for music videos.  It is still early in its development some it has some bugs and doesn’t always bring up the music videos, sometimes it is just the album cover with some music, but over all i could see this becoming a big fad especially for those of you who have your computer hooked to your HD TV for parties this would be a big hit.

So I have always been a fan of the trend of mashing different types of music together to make fun beats. below are a few of my favorite mashups.

Pimps and Jokers by TapeMaster Inc.

Tom Petty vs 50Cent

Baby Be Loved by TapeMasters Inc.

Fabulous vs Maroon 5

Nirvana vs Europe by Wax Audio

Staying Alive In The Wall By Wax Audio

The BeeGees vs Pink Floyd

So after an interesting post by a friend (HERE) I decided to share some of my favorite people on YouTube.

This is the video from my friends post.  Yes there is a beat boxing cellist (1:33) which is one of the more unique talents I have ever seen.  Not to mention the song is great. If you go to watch any more of their videos leave my blog in the comments to let them know where you came form to watch it.

–

is one of my favorite success stories from YouTube.  I started following her when she only had about 100 people listening to her music. She now tours the world singing and doing what she loves.  she is by far the best dorm room musician I have seen on YouTube.  By dorm room musician i mean when she started she was just sitting in front of her computer in her dorm room recording songs on her laptop.  She covers tons of fun songs as well as having many great originals.  All of the singing is her own she even does the harmonizing with herself.  For those of you who would love to play music for a living she is a great reference as to how to get started and how to truly do what you love.

Matthew Andrae, AKA , I found randomly on YouTube during a ukulele tangent of browsing.  When i first watch the video it had

only been seen about 1500 times.  It now has many more views than that. Below is an excerpt from her YouTube profile and the song.

“Imagine waking up to 15,000 new emails with 1000 new ones coming in every hour. The emails are from people you don’t know who want to congratulate you, share their most personal emotions about your music and meet you in person. Among these thousands of emails are others who want to sign you to their record label, manage your career, schedule interviews, and book your act. The first thing you might think is that you are still dreaming. “I remember smiling in disbelief” says Matthew Andrae, “Nobody gets that many emails except maybe Russell Crowe”. Since Andrae posted a video on You Tube last December of himself singing “Sweet Celine” and accompanying himself on the Guitalele (a cross between a classical guitar and a tenor ukulele), the song has racked up 603,102 views and touched many listeners.”

I was one of those people who emailed him.

does not get nearly the viewership of the above three channels and the videos posted are generally random in content and theme, but he has a special ability to pull his camera out at just the right time to catch some special moments on film.  I have used his videos in the past on my blog for concert reviews, the video below was taken at a house party he had. The band is The Werks. (find there music for free HERE)

This channel posts videos from one of the best college traditions I know of anywhere in the country. Every winter The University of Dayton and its students have a Christmas light competition, for an event called Christmas On Campus where they have under privileged kids from the city near by come out to campus to celebrate Christmas and get presents from college kids. It is a great charitable event but the reason it is so cool is how over board they take the Christmas light competition.

If you haven’t seen this video yet you must have been living in the internet dark ages but these guys play their only hit song on a subway in NYC all on iPhones and filmed on iPhones. You may be thinking that is lame, but it actually sounds great.

comes from the guys who brought you superbad and funny or die. Basically they get friends of theirs super drunk and then asked them to explain historically significant events. If you are a history buff this will be a big laugh for you.

Blues-rock duo The Black Keys chose YouTube to announce the upcoming album from their side project Blakroc, a collaboration with hip-hop entrepreneur Damon Dashon.

[More from Mashable: Hulu Goes International With Japan Launch]

Blakroc features various emcees rapping over original music from The Black Keys. Per the trailer,Blakroc 2 will feature rappers such as Talib Kweli, U-God, the Cool Kids, Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, Jay Electronica, Jim Jones, Sean Price and OC, all of whom appear in the recording studio during the video. It may not give much insight into what the album will sound like, but there’s a lot of smoking.

It’s common for artists to use free services like YouTube to preview and promote upcoming work. Recently, Tom Waits used the service to announce his new album, Bad As Me, which will be released Oct. 25. However, The Black Keys’ teaser doesn’t reveal its impending release date, simply saying “Coming soon.” The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney even tweeted last night, probably sarcastically, “There are no actual plans to release blakroc 2. We’ve been trying for months to work out a partnership with @redlobster…to no avail”

With the popularity of The Black Keys at an all-time high following the band’s Grammy-winning 2010 album Brothers, perhaps simply getting the word out early creates a success. The video already has more than 16,000 views.

Will you be looking forward to the release?

Continuing my tracking of The Werks as they travel across the country preforming many different music festivals, I have acquired some film of them from EF music festival.
